Digital Concrete has the capability to expand the horizons of our trade. We have pushed the envelope of what can be done with ground penetrating radar with respect to specialty construction.
One of the ways we have done this is in the field of existing slab modification. Many of today's premier buildings are constructed without a tenant in mind. These buildings are constructed as a shell only. Once a lease is signed then the building must be modified to suit the new occupants.
Depending upon the needs of the tenant, slab modifications range from simple cores to large slab cutouts for new stairwells or elevator shafts.

Tracking the accurate path of Post Tensioned cables is the key to creating a slab opening. Above is an area of a slab that was scanned for a large stairwell that had to be constructed in an area where a large amount of Post-Tensioned cables were present. Digital Concrete had to scan the entire area and located all of the cables so that specialty contractor Schwager Davis could come in and safely create the cutouts for the stairwell. |

When a slab opening is created you don't want to have any surprises. Above is a Post Tensioned dead-end anchorage. This slab opening was created on the edge of a large stairwell cutout. The client had originally wanted to sawcut the opening, which would have led to disaster when this PT Cable was cut. |
